Synopsis:


In the 1990s, iodine deficiency presented an acute health care issue for China. Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) causes goiters and cretinism, placing a huge burden on individuals, caregivers, families, communities and government resources. Under the direction of Vice Premiere Li Peng, the Chinese Department of Health began an initiative to eradicate IDD in the country. This film examines the progress being made and the human cost of the disorder.
